Reiki

Reiki is a practice. It is a spiritual practice in the way Meditation, Yoga, and Tai Chi are. Reiki was discovered in the 1920's in Japan. It can assist to balance the body and help bring stress reduction and relaxation. Reiki does not address symptoms directly, rather it balances the system. It engages the bodies’ own self-healing to assist you to better address the stresses that are in your life. Reiki is a vibrational healing practice that engages your bodies’ self-healing. Reiki can be included safely with any conventional or complementary treatment. One definition for the word Reiki is, universal strength.

What is a Reiki Treatment? It includes light touch, a fully clothed body, and the person will be on a treatment table or in a chair. It can be relaxing, balancing, and pleasant. Sometimes the hands of a Reiki Practitioner can feel warm or cool, along with a tingling type of sensation. Once your body takes what is needed, Reiki hands become “quiet” and you receive the comfort of caring touch. If in a hospital setting, the treatment can usually last for varying amounts of time. In a one-on-one session in a professional space with a Reiki Practitioner, the session is usually one hour.

Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions nor prescribe or perform medical treatment, prescribe substances, nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. Reiki does not take the place of medical care. It is recommended that clients see a licensed physician or licensed health care professional for any physical or psychological care that is needed. The body has the ability to heal itself and to do so, complete relaxation is most beneficial. Long term imbalances in the body sometimes require multiple sessions in order to facilitate the level of relaxation needed by the body to heal itself.

Sessions are for one hour.
